Comedy Rave First Try Chesterfield 30th May
Ivan Brackenbury's Drive In Comedy Club Sat 30th
Ivan Brackenbury's Rave Comedy Nights give you all the stress, danger and uncertainty of an 80's old skool warehouse rave night but without any of that euphoric hedonistic pleasure.
The location of the gig and bill is always kept a secret. Ticket holders will get a text telling them the location of the first act. The audience will have just about enough time to get to the location and reflect on how safely they drove despite the tight deadline, before the start of the gig.
The venue could be motorway services, it could be a Lidl Car Park, it could be the local dogging site*
*I might not have worked for 2 months but I've not forgotten the hack references. One location will always be a dogging' site.
Once at the location, you fire up our drive in comedy club app on your phone, and then the show will be beamed into your vehicle. If you look around you will see the comic. He will be playing it cool just off Lidl property for legal reasons, and he'll be wearing a discrete headset. This is a stealth comedy experience. A comedy club hidden in plain sight, invisible to any passer by and hopeful Frank who collect the trolley for Lidl*.
*for legal reasons we’ve been asked to point our we’re only using Lidl as an example. It won’t be Lidl - it will be a secret.
Once the first act has left the stage, there's a chance to recharge your glasses in Lidl buy some crisps and nuts for 60% off pub prices. We will encourage people to also do their essential weekly shop during this break to reduce the chances of spreading Covid.
Once the shopping is complete, we will then go to location two to avoid paying the Lidl car park fine for staying over 60 mins.
Tickets are only £10 per car (so potentially £2/person) Why so cheap well because we’ve never done it before and it probably won’t work. It’s sound cheap for a night of comedy but quite a steep price to pay for just driving around a town centre because Frank and the Lidl security guard are holding the compare until the police arrive.
The event is free to the Drive Comedy Clubs original backers but we ask everyone, please don't drive 200 miles across the country to see us. If it works we’ll come to you*.
The rule of thumb can you get to the gig and sit through an hour or so without needing to use the facilities? If so then you're OK if not either stay at home or She Wee it.
*We wee in the van.
